How to Get Certified in Sitecore OrderCloud

Sitecore OrderCloud is an API-first, headless commerce cloud platform for B2B, B2C, and B2X. If you don't know much about the platform, fret not- have a look at some of my earlier posts for an introduction, platform overview, and data model basics.

Before we begin, kudos to you for taking the first step in getting here and showing interest!

Sign up for the Study guide

The first step is to sign up for the free study guide via the Sitecore learning portal here. This guide gives you an overview of the exam format, available resources to help you prepare, as well as some practice questions.

At a high level, the certification covers the following key competencies:

• Competency 1: OrderCloud Architecture and Conventions
• Competency 2: Integration
• Competency 3: User Management and Access Control
• Competency 4: Environments
• Competency 5: Product Management
• Competency 6: Order and Fulfillment Management
• Competency 7: Troubleshooting

Create and Seed OrderCloud Sandbox

Before you begin studying, you need to get yourself a sandbox to play with. Follow my guide here on how you can setup your free Sitecore OrderCloud portal account and seed the sandbox with sample B2C data. The guide also goes into detail around all entities created by the seeding process to give you an in-depth understanding of the purpose of each entity and how they relate to each other.

Now that you have your sandbox with sample data up and running and have a basic understanding of the data model and key entities, you need to dig a bit deeper into OrderCloud documentation to cover the key competencies mentioned earlier.

The best place to start is the extensive knowledge base provided by Sitecore here. I would also recommend you have a look at the API reference and get familiar with available developer tools to round off your knowledge with some hands on practice.

Register for the Exam

Note that the process is slightly different from previous Sitecore certifications- you register for the free guide in the Sitecore learning portal, but need to separately purchase and register for the exam via Webassessor which is a proctored exam taking service. Once you've registered and logged in to Webassessor, click on Register for an Exam and select the Sitecore OrderCloud Certification Exam from the Online Proctored Exams section. Once added, you'll be prompted to select the date and time for the exam and complete the purchase.

The exam itself costs $350 USD- get in touch with your Sitecore partner representative and/or your employer to see if you have access to any discounts. The format is closed book and consists of multiple choice questions. You will need to score at least 80% to pass.
